Annual Garden Tour (July 19, 2009) An event sponsored by WREN of Bethlehem, NH and local Garden Clubs in the area. Plan an exciting day of touring a selection of fabulous North Country gardens. The tour takes visitors through some of the loveliest old Inns and homes where award winning gardens and landscapes have enhanced these locations for generations, such as Adair Inn in Bethlehem, NH.

Old Home Day (July 4, 2009) Easton Sugar Hill and Franconia. Sponsored by the Lafayette Lions Club, celebrated annually the weekend of the Fourth of July. Activities include a 4th of July Patriotic Parade, activities and concerts on the Dow Field, joined Fire Department Chicken Bar-B-Q, Duck race, prizes and contests, Book Sale.

Hayseed Bluegrass Festival(July 26, 2009) A celebration of local music, food and fun in the gazebo on the Dow Field. Bring chairs, coolers. Tents with souvenirs and foods align the field. Featuring local and regional well known groups, players and recording artists of this genre of folk and country music as they mix it up contempory style and renew old acquaintances.

Feel'n Top Notch - Outdoor Expo & Wellness Fair (August 1, 2009) Cannon Mt. Ski Area, Franconia Notch State Park, Exit 34C off I-93, Franconia, NH. Collaborative event with Cannon Mountain, Littleton Regional Hospital, Pemigewasett Valley Search & Rescue, Franconia Notch Chamber of Commerce and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department created as a great summer event for families to visit Franconia Notch State Park and enjoy numerous activities and learn about the outdoors. The Top Notch Triathlon will be a major event component. Others include exhibits, demonstrations and 45-minute mini-seminars and activities. In addition, more than 40 vendors will be on hand to demonstrate outdoor or health-related services or products. Planned mini-seminars include sessions on the HikeSafe program; Hiking with Children; Moose Facts and Myths; Bugs, Bites and Leaves of Three; Map & Compass; Basics of GPS; "I miss my Old Man"; and a discussion of plans for the old Mittersill ski slopes. Activities will include a climbing wall, bands, clowns, face painting, trail bike rides (bikes supplied), nature hikes, GPS geocaching and obstacle courses. Demonstrations will include a simulated rescue of an injured hiker, maintaining your bike, fly-casting, canoeing and kayaking, water rescue and more. Fees apply; free to younger ages.

Bode Bash (August) Sponsored by the Turtle Ridge Foundation (supporting Health, Diversity & Sustainable Living"). A weekend-long charity event with world champion skier Bode Miller at his organic farm and home. Includes tennis, golf tournament, live music, great food and much more. Proceeds benefit Copper Cannon, a non-profit Camp that provides a meaningful outdoor experience for kids while teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship, moral behavior, respect for themselves and others, and strives to instill a sense of self-esteem and pride.

Top Notch Triathlon (August 1, 2009) Combined with the Feel'N Top Notch Wellness Fair at Cannon Mt., Exit 34C off I-93, Franconia, NH. Triathlon of 3 athletic endeavors; starts from the village of Franconia, mountain bike along a paved path, swim 1/2 across Echo Lake, sprint uphill to the Tramway ride to Cannon and sprint from there to a fine triathlon finish. Billed as not exactly "a walk in the Park", a popular and very competitive annual event for triathlon aficionados.

Annual Poetry Festival at the Robert Frost Place

New Hampshire (Scottish) Highland Games (September 18 - 20, 2009) Loon Mountain Resort, Route 112, Lincoln, NH. Known for its diverse program, highlights include the Gathering of the Scottish Clans, with over 60 clans and societies, 30 Pipe Bands from Canada and the United States appear over the three days, Sheepdog Trials, Celtic World Music Concerts, the New England Regional Scottish Fiddle Championship, Heavyweight Scottish Athletics, National Highland Dance Competition, Solo Piping & Drumming, Scottish Harp (Clarsach) & other instrument competitions. A favorite venue for most of the World's top Heavyweight athletes to compete. Watch both amateur and professionals
